Vintage, Musket for Mitchy-san only
This is a vintage bayonet. Bayonets are sword-like objects that were attached to rifles like the Type 38 during World War II. This one, however, is a much older type that attaches under the barrel. It's likely a spear-type weapon for close combat from the era of early bolt-action rifles or even earlier, before the advent of machine guns when close combat was more common. It might be from the Meiji or Taisho era, or even earlier. I acquired it about 40 years ago from an antique shop, so I don't have detailed information. Would this be of interest to someone interested in arms and armor? While many items from World War II are available, older pieces are becoming increasingly rare! The total length is 53 cm.
