This is a unit identification cap (cap) for the Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel Mizuho (PLH-21), which is equipped with two helicopters.
Patrol Vessel Mizuho (First): This is a large patrol vessel equipped with two helicopters, completed in 1986. It was active for many years based in the Fourth Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Nagoya) and other locations. In 2019, it was renamed Fuso upon the commissioning of the new Mizuho (PLH-41) and was decommissioned (retired) in March 2024.
Design: This is a navy blue mesh cap with JAPAN COAST GUARD, PLH 21, MIZUHO, and the Japanese flag embroidered on the front.
