Juntei Kannon Statue
This is a meticulously reproduced replica from the Tokyo National Museum Collection, designated as an Important Cultural Property.
Juntei Kannon is the principal image for the initiation ceremony in Shingon Buddhism and was revered in Esoteric Buddhism as one of the Six Kannon Bodhisattvas who save beings from suffering in the six realms: hell, hungry ghosts, animals, asuras, humans, and heavens. This artwork harmoniously blends the Heian period elements seen in the soft colors and intricate kirikane patterns of the Juntei Kannon statue with the Kamakura period elements evident in the powerful depiction of the Four Heavenly Kings.
This is a silk scroll with a meticulously copied painting, backed with paper and mounted. It features wooden rollers. The width of the top and bottom rollers are the same. Scroll dimensions: approximately 60cm wide x 150cm long.
A new braided cord has been attached.
Prayers are offered for longevity, peace, and the eradication of sins. This statue has been consecrated through the Juntei ritual at our temple.
You can choose from the following practices: Kaigen (Consecration), Kaji (Blessing), or Eko (Dedication). Special prayers will also be offered free of charge.
