Waterford Lismore Claret Wine Glass Crystal Signed Ireland 5 7/8in Single
Waterford
A single Waterford Lismore claret wine glass - the pattern that has been the house's signature since 1952. The tapered bowl opens to a clean, uncut rim, then Lismore's alternating diamond and wedge cuts take over: deep wedge-cut verticals banded against fields of fine diamond, echoed down the stem and finished with a star-cut foot that fans into rays when you look straight down through it. Lead crystal, heavy for its size, and it rings when you flick it. Lismore was designed in 1952 by Miroslav Havel, Waterford's first staff designer, who took the diamond-and-wedge motif from the leaded windows and stonework of Lismore Castle in County Waterford. It went on to become the best-selling Waterford pattern ever made - which is why a single like this is a practical buy rather than a rare one. The foot carries the Waterford mark, confirmed in hand. Sold as a single glass. At 5 7/8in this is the Lismore claret, the standard red wine or port size in the line - useful if you have broken one out of a set and want it whole again. Condition: Gently used, consistent with age. No chips, cracks, or fleabites; the rim is smooth and the cutting is crisp with no dulling to the facets. Light shelf scratching to the underside of the foot, as expected. - Maker: Waterford (marked) - Pattern: Lismore - Form: Claret wine glass, single - Quantity: 1 - Size: 5 7/8in tall - Origin: Ireland - Material: Lead crystal One good glass, back in the set.
